James’ business experience is wide and varied and covers all areas of accounting practice across two continents. He began his career with one of the ‘big four’ accountancy firms, then spent a number of years in the corporate banking industry before immigrating from South Africa several years ago. He then ran his own successful accountancy practice specialising in business advisory work – with an emphasis on tax consulting and MYOB.

He believes that keeping a firm focus on the client and on the end result is the key to a successful client: accountant relationship. “I’ve worked with that philosophy for years now and it really works”, he says.

James is married and has two children – a son and a daughter – and in his spare time is most often found in the gym or on the golf course.

He has an honours degree in commerce, is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants, and holds a Certificate of Public Practice.
